Susan M. “Sue” Simons, 89, of Sugarcreek passed away at Danbury in Millersburg on Sunday, March 15, 2026, following a period of declining health.
Born near Baltic on May 17, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Noah and Elizabeth N. (Schlabach) Troyer. She was married to Howard “Dick” Simons, he passed on October 29, 2022.
Sue worked at the Shanesville doctor’s office and Walnut Hills Retirement Center as an LPN for many years. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking, knitting and gardening, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune with the closed captions on, and jigsaw puzzles on the computer using Jigsaw Planet.
Sue is survived by her children James Simons and Judy McRobie both of Sugarcreek; granddaughter Lindsay (Jeremy) Rowe; great grandson Brexin Rowe; siblings Lovina Brandt of Walnut Creek, Aden Troyer of Sugarcreek, Edward Troyer of Plain City, and Delbert Troyer of Akron.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings Alvin Troyer, Owen Troyer, Mary Lou Yoder, and Monroe Troyer.
In keeping with Sue’s wishes, there will be no public services. The family would like to thank the staff’s at Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar, Danbury Senior Living in Millersburg, and CorsoCare Hospice for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the United Way of Tuscarawas County.
