Mary Alice Reporting –

Tuscarawas County residents are asked to use caution and be vigilant as law enforcement look for a suspect from a pursuit.

Those living from New Philadelphia to Stone Creek are asked to be attentive and ensure cars, garages, and homes are locked since the subject may try to hide or flee.

A release from Tuscarawas County Sheriff Orvis Campbell indicates that an individual was in a black Volkswagen beetle, reported stolen from Stark County, when a Tuesday evening pursuit began with Uhrichsville police. The chase continued and New Philadelphia police, Sheriff’s deputies and the Ohio State Highway Patrol then joined.

The car was abandoned near an access road along Interstate 77, in the vicinity of Steele Hill Road, in New Philadelphia.

There is currently no description of the suspect but Sheriff Campbell notes the car has been recovered and video evidence is being collected.

Until the person is caught Campbell encourages individuals to keep homes and other buildings locked and to report any suspicious activity to 911.
