Suzanne L. Ballard, age 92, died Monday, March 20, 2023, in Park Village Health Care Center at Dover, while under the care of Community Hospice.
Born on July 22, 1930, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, Suzanne was a daughter of the late Lindsey Laughrey and Anna Jane DeVoe. She was a graduate of Beaver Falls High School and then the University of Pittsburgh where she obtained a BSN in Nursing. Suzanne then furthered her education by completing her MSN in Nursing from Yale University.
Her professional career was spent in home health care and visiting nurse organizations in Pittsburgh, Erie, Cleveland, and New Haven, Connecticut, and concluded her career as Executive Director of Shoreline Visiting Nurses in New London. Suzanne and her husband, the late Amos D. Ballard, retired in 1995 and settled in Pittsburgh where Suzanne volunteered with Jeanette Head State and Penn Area Library for 15 years. Upon Amos’ passing in 2016, she relocated to New Philadelphia.
She was blessed by a family of three fabulous sons, Paul (Helen) Ballard of New Philadelphia, Matthew (Sue) Ballard of Novi, Michigan, and Donald (Beth) Ballard of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her younger sister, Linda Tafel of McKeesport, Pennsylvania.
In keeping with Suzanne’s wishes funeral services will be private. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia is handling cremation care.
