A local organization that’s dedicated to helping individuals impacted by sexual violence is joining a national movement tonight in support of victims.

COMPASS Rape Crisis Center Community Engagement Coordinator Erin Stewart says they’re hosting “Take Back the Night” at the Tuscarawas County Courthouse square.

“And essentially it’s just people coming together from a community who recognize that sexual violence is a serious issue and it’s this group of people coming together and calling for an end to violence.”

Participants will hear one survivor’s story. There will also be materials to make signs.

Stewart says COMPASS is partnering with Noah’s Hope, Harbor House, and the Tuscarawas County Prosecutor’s Office in putting the 7pm event on.

Thursday event is free and open to the public and will include a short program and a walk that aims to offer support to victims of violent crime.
