Mary Alice Reporting –

A collaboration has formed a project that aims to address the need for sustainable funding within Tuscarawas County’s arts and culture community.

The Tuscarawas Arts Partnership and Leadership Tuscarawas Project Committee teamed up to launch the Arts & Cultural Sustainable Funding Project.

TAP Director Wilma Mullet says the goal is to find areas where financial support is needed to close the disparity gap in Tuscarawas County related to arts and culture.

“What I have been hearing over and over again is that the funding opportunities are pretty limited and competitive. With the growing arts and culture community, is there any way we can help support it so we can start looking at the long term.”

Mullet adds the first step is to release a survey to individuals and organizations involved in the Tuscarawas County arts and culture scene.

“First phase right now is collecting data, so we are reaching out to four categories in the arts and culture community; non-profits, the for-profits, the arts educators, and professional arts and creatives.”
