For three hours, individuals will have the chance to get the influenza vaccine at the Tuscarawas County Health Department.

They’re hosting a drive-thru clinic on Tuesday, October 15th, from 3 to 6pm, for ages three and up.

Flu cases have not been seen locally, but Community Relations Coordinator Jennifer Demuth says this month is a good time to get an inoculation.

“It won’t be long until we get into prime flu season. We do recommend getting that flu shot in October so your protection will last throughout the entire flu season. Often flu season will spike sometime around February, sometimes March.”

Demuth reminds all to take hygiene precautions.

“Remember, washing our hands often can really help prevent the spread of infections as well, and cleaning those high touched surfaces like doorknobs and counter tops, and phones regularly can also help.”

Demuth adds for individuals who may contract COVID, the flu, RSV, or other illness, to take precautions.

“Please stay home if you’re sick and away from other for at least 24-hours, until your symptoms are getting better and you’ve been fever free without using any type of fever reducing medication.”

At the drive-thru clinic, participants need to pre-fill a vaccine consent form at www.tchdnow.org and bring it with them, as well as, a photo ID, medical insurance card, or if no insurance, check or cash.
