Residents are invited to grab a goody bag designed for pets during a drive-up event.

Tuscarawas County Health Department Communications Relations Director Jennifer Demuth says this coincides with June being pet emergency preparedness month.

“So that if you would have to evacuate your house, perhaps due to flooding or an extended power outage for several days, the idea is to have important items in that bag for yourself and your pet.”

Emergency pet supplies can include extra food, water, medications, any vet records, owner contact information, and a recent pet photo.

TCHD is hosting the free event on Wednesday from 3 to 6pm, or while supplies last.

“Drive-thru pet emergency preparedness bag event here at the Tuscarawas County Health Department. You can put your dogs in your vehicle if want, and we will be hosting this at our office at 897 E. Iron Avenue in Dover.”

Free items will include preparedness information, pet grooming glove, clip-on reflective collar tag, pet waste bag dispenser, and more.
