Gwen Rummell Reporting –
As the season and weather change, it’s important to stay updated with the latest vaccines to prevent and reduce the risk of illnesses.
The Tuscarawas County Health Department offers updated coronavirus and flu vaccines through clinics and appointments.
Director of Health Promotion and Community Relations Jennifer Demuth emphasizes the importance of staying up-to-date with flu shots.
“They prevent severe illness or prevent illness altogether. So a person who has had a flu vaccine is going to be much less likely to get the flu and if they do get the flu, they’re going to get a less serious form.”
Demuth notes that coronavirus booster shots are also needed with new strains appearing.
The Health Department, through a grant, will be providing infection prevention bags to those who request them.
“This bag includes 2 COVID-19 home test kits, sanitizing wipes, face masks, travel-sized Kleenex packs, [a] digital thermometer, a 4-ounce hand sanitizer, antibacterial hand wipes, and additional prevention information.”
