Gwen Rummell Reporting –

The Tuscarawas County Job and Family Services Public Assistance staff received recognition at the state level relating to the SNAP program.

The staff was awarded first place in the state for medium-sized counties for meeting required timeliness standards. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides food benefits to low-income families to supplement their grocery budget.

To be compliant with state mandates, staff members must determine food assistance eligibility within 30 days of an application being submitted and meet the required 95% rate.

For April of 2024, the Public Assistance staff met the rate at 100%.
