Thelma M. Albaugh, age 100, of Dennison, passed away at her home on July 19, 2024. Born in Dennison on February 1, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Fred Orville and Alta Elizabeth (Cribbs) Hurless.

She was a 1942 graduate of Uhrichsville High School. Thelma was employed by the Hercules Factory in Canton during WWII. She faithfully attended Roxford Methodist Church and the Seekers Sunday School class. Thelma was also very active in Prosperity Grange at the County, State, and National levels. She was a founding member of Union Township Country Club. Thelma served her community for many years on the Tuscarawas County Board of Elections, collected money for the Cancer Drive and was advisor for Dennison Future Homemakers 4-H Club for over 20 years. She later cared for her aged father until his passing and made weekly visits to nursing homes with friend Mary Masten. Thelma was a strong woman, becoming legally blind from macular degeneration, managed to live independently with sound mind and her youthful voice, until her passing at age 100.

Thelma married Walter L. Albaugh on April 27, 1946. He preceded her in death on January 3, 1983. They are survived by their children, Jack (Jackie) Albaugh and Joan (David) Eichel; grandchildren, Jodi (Lukas) Johnson and Lori (Andrew) Mackey; and great-granddaughters, Evelyn and Alayna Mackey. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Vance and Donna Hurless. 

Pastor Jim Manbeck will officiate a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, in Roxford Church Cemetery near Dennison. Memorial contributions may be made to Roxford Church, 771 Roxford Church Rd. S.E., Dennison, OH  44621.
