New Philadelphia firefighters say a Sunday morning fire damaged three mobile homes in all at a park on the west end of town behind Wal-Mart. Nobody was injured.

Fire chief Jim Parrish says the fire destroyed the home where it started in the 300 block of 11th street northwest at around 10 am. homes on both sides were also impacted.

The initial home with the fire and the one to the left of it are a total loss.  three people had to be notified and assisted out of the home on the right, which ended up having external heat and internal smoke damage.

Parrish says the home where the fire started had been unoccupied. Police and the state fire marshal’s office are assisting with the investigation to determine the cause.

Parrish says firefighters were at the scene about five hours initially.  They were called back there a few more times Sunday – including once just after 10 am – due to rekindles.
