Todd D. Smith, age 58, of Strasburg, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 22, 2023, in his home.

Born November 4, 1964, in Bloomington, Indiana, he was the son of the late Dickie D. Smith and Charlotta Kay Sullivan Smith Oliphant. Todd graduated from Bloomfield (Indiana) High School and went on to serve honorably for ten years in the United States Navy – leaving the service due to ill health. Todd earned his bachelor of science degree from the University of the State of New York, and then went on to obtain his master of science degree from New Hampshire College – which was close to his naval base. Todd became a long-distance truck driver, an owner and operator, and he very much enjoyed his job. He was proud to have visited all but three of the lower 48 United States.

Todd was a member of Millersburg Christian Church, and attended Riverside Community Church in Dover. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

In his spare time, Todd  liked to have fun. He loved playing golf, riding his Harley-Davidson, drag racing, and following football – college was his favorite. He liked to read and was a self-described news junkie. Todd also enjoyed preparing meat for family and friends in his smoker. He will be dearly missed.

Todd is survived by his wife, Karen R. Stutzman Smith, whom he married on June 9, 2007; his children, Christopher Smith, Brock (Jennifer) Smith and Samantha (Matt) Cox; Jake (Kendra) Phegley – who was like a son to Todd; his step-children, Nick (Steph) Shrock and Tasha (Frederick) Overbay; his grandchildren, Trevor, Kenley, Jordyn, Breck, Dalton, Paxton, Mattox, Nolan, Milliemay, Joe, Everly, June, Ivor, Marcella and Rosemary; his step-mother, Sandy Smith; and his step-father, Tom Oliphant.

Besides his parents, Todd was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jade.

Family and friends may call at the Riverside Community Church, 2201 Progress St., Dover, on Thursday, October 26, 10 – 11 a.m. A service will follow at 11 officiated by Pastor Wes McElravy. There will be a lunch directly afterward in the church. Burial will be Saturday, October 28, at 11 a.m. in Antioch Cemetery, Bloomfield, Indiana.
