Tracie Nicole Kenney, 49 of Gnadenhutten, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus, following a courageous fight with heart failure.

Born on June 21st, 1976, to the late David Marlatt and MaryAnna Berger, Tracie was a 1994 graduate of Indian Valley High School, and later went on to earn her Associate’s degree in early childhood education.

Known as a light when she entered the room and a friend to all, Tracie fought valiantly for 24 years with her illness. While her battle led to her passing, it did not take away her spirit or her love of life. Her true happy place was along a beachfront in the Gulf, enjoying vibrant days and the cool water splashing in on her legs. Her vacations with family to various beaches were some of the happiest memories she shared with loved ones. Second only to her treks to the shoreline were shopping trips, where Tracie enjoyed spoiling those, she loved the most.

Outside of those activities, crafts, painting, coloring, and creating were where Tracie found her most enjoyment. She dedicated extensive space in her home solely for storage of all the items she needed to make her next craft. Tracie loved to paint rocks and spread them around wherever she went, often leaving a heartwarming message or colorful image to brighten someone’s day.

Later in life, she found her true passion, working for the Newcomerstown Police Department as a dispatcher. Tracie would often enjoy recounting a tale of the latest news in a way only she could, portraying each day like it was right out of an episode of Cops. She provided a calming voice in times of strife for many, and a steady word to officers when trouble arose.

Tracie took true pride in the title of “Grammy.” In her short time with her grandchildren, she provided lifelong memories and looked forward to every moment spent with her three boys.

She married in 1994 to the late Harry Junior Kenney of Newcomerstown, and enjoyed 26 years together, before his passing. Later, Tracie met her partner Tim Miller, who stood by her side through her final days with unwavering support.

Tracie leaves behind her mother MaryAnna and her father Marion Long; her two daughters, Madison (Nick) McWilliams and Allison (Brandon) Anderson; three grandsons, Harrison McWilliams, Elliot Anderson, and Emmet Anderson; her sister Beverly (Chris) Pearch; her brothers Adam (Jacob) Long-Reeb, Chris (Kelly) Marlatt, and Scott (Bobbi) Marlatt. Additionally, Tracie is survived by her nephews Connor and Colin Pearch, and niece Camryn Pearch, who were like her own children, along with countless other extended family members and friends.

The family invites those who wish to celebrate the life of Tracie to Addy Funeral Home in Newcomerstown on Wednesday, February 25th, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. for visitation, and Thursday, February 25th at 11 a.m. for funeral services, with burial to follow at King’s Community Church outside Newcomerstown.

Memorial contributions in Tracie’s name can be made to the American Heart Association, and the Ohio State Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital. The family also asks all to consider donating blood today to help save lives.
