More residents took advantage of free Travel Tusc tickets for admission to Tuscarawas County destinations over the last year.
The tickets are designed to highlight area businesses and connect residents with no-cost passes to partner locations.
Director Dee Grossman met with New Phila council members Monday night for an update, talking about a successful year.
“We reimbursed our partners for the full price of their tickets and we paid them $79,000. New Philadelphia leads the way, and we paid our partners in New Phila for $43,501. The next highest then, of course, was Dover, followed by Sugarcreek, Bolivar, and Zoar, and then Dennison at the end.”
Previous years saw reimbursements ranging from $8,000 to $12,000, with over 6,800 tickets utilized over the last year.
Grossman says that an ARPA act grant from the Tuscarawas County commissioners was key in providing that many tickets.
She says that Travel Tusc does not know what the next year will hold, and asked to city to consider sponsoring New Phila attractions for tickets through lodging tax funds.
