The history of Schoenbrunn Village, the massacre at Gnadenhutten, and battle between the Americas will be told as Trumpet in the Land kicks off their 56th season.
Margaret Bonamico says opening day is this Friday.
“There will be a dedication to Joe Bonamico, who played Simon Girty for 37 years in Trumpet and also worked for the organization as a director, actor, marketing manager for 42 years.”
Joseph Bonamico, who also portrayed Dracula each fall, passed away in September following a brief illness. The dedication will be at 8:15pm before that evenings Trumpet in the Land performance at 8:30.
Bonamico notes that their season runs from June 20th through August 16th.
“We do performances Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Sprinkled in there are five performances of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.”
She adds there will be the dramatic reading of The White Savage, written by Joe Bonamico and Mark Durbin.
“The board thought it would be important since it retired in 2016 in Joe’s memory that we’re bringing it back as a Readers’ Theatre. What that means is the play will be read by different actors, but it will be acted out in voice and that’ll be held in the pavilion, and then on August 13th we have a video of White Savage when it was being performed on stage.”
Regular tickets are $25, but Tuscarawas County residents can attend opening night for $10.
