More locations have been added to the list for the TUFF Bags Summer Meal Program.
The non-profit is once again providing the bags to provide easy to prepare food for children during the summer break with all eligible Tuscarawas County children in grades pre-kindergarten through 12th. Pre-registration is encouraged, by calling 330-401-3283, to ensure enough bags are available at individual locations.
Coordinator Lisa Walker explains that the program will run June 11th through August 9th and with the addition of one location, it creates more accessibility.
“We will be at Newcomerstown Library, Gnadenhutten Town Square, the Claymont Primary School on Eastport, the New Philadelphia library, Tusky Valley Elementary, Dover High School, and here at the Warehouse [located at 1060 Cookson Avenue SE, in New Philadelphia].”

Walker adds that volunteers are still needed for packing, which will be on Tuesday’s.
“Visit our Facebook page or our website [www.npnaz.org/info.php?TUFF-Bags-73] and all of those dates are available with the availability of the spots that are still open.”
She notes that feedback indicates this program being a helpful resource for parents and grandparents, as TUFF Bags continues their mission of ending childhood food insecurity, as they are serving about 1,800 children in a total of twelve learning institutions.
Meal Bag Pickup Locations:
- Newcomerstown Library (parking lot) every Tuesday beginning June 11 from 1 to 2pm
- Gnadenhutten Square (public parking area0 every Wednesday starting June 12th from 9:30 to 10:30am
- Claymont Primary (parking lot) every Thursday, 11:30am to 12:30pm, starting June 13th
- New Phila Library (parking lot) beginning June 13th, every Thursday from 2:30 to 3:30pm
- Tusky Elementary (parking lot) each Friday, starting June 14th, from 9:30 to 10:30am
- Dover High (Tornado Alley) each Friday, from 11:30am to 12:30pm, starting June 14th
- TUFF Bags Warehouse, every Wednesday, beginning June 12th, from 1 to 3pm.
