The service, warehouse location, and director are the same for TUFF Bags but the office’s location has changed.
Tuscarawas United-Feeding our Future was originally housed with the Tuscarawas County health Department when it began in 2016, before moving to the Tuscarawas County Juvenile Court.
Director Lisa Walker says they have now relocated to New Philadelphia First Church of The Nazarene.
“For the good of the program and the future of the program, we just needed to find an agency that could house the program so that we could continue the work that we’re doing.”
Tusc United Way remains the fiscal agent for the charity and all money collected through fundraisers or donations is put back into purchasing food for the children, in multiple school district’s, they assist.
“We are currently serving 1,787 students every week here in Tuscarawas County. The bags that we send home with them have at least two breakfasts, two lunches, and multiple snacks so that they know when they leave school on Friday, they’re going to have food to keep their bellies full until they get back to school on Monday.”
Throughout 2023, they provided 70,602 meal bags in six Tuscarawas County school districts.
