The new Tuscarawas County Fair entrance was officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony Sunday evening.
The project was needed due to the previous buildings’ deterioration and unsafe condition.
Cutting the ribbon was the 2023 Fair king and queen, Jonathan Domer and Brianna Burdette, who both spoke beforehand.
“It’s awesome seeing this thing get built. It’ll show people that we are growing,” noted Domer.
Burdette added that the new building “brings this fair to life. It makes me really happy to see this fair continue to grow and everyone getting together and helping with this.”
The Fair Grounds Initiative Committee spearhead the $160,000 rebuild, which was possible thanks to grants and community contributions, explains committee member Stacy Gordon.
To see the building up after a short time frame from being asked, to conception, and final construction has been a whirlwind.
“It felt kind of like a pipe dream. I never imagined we’d be able to have the actual entrance ready to go for this week. It’s been really cool to see.”
The Committee’s goal is to aid the Fair Board in projects that seem to be put on hold, with the next step to install black fencing at the entrance. Another possible project being looked at is the restrooms, but the three committee members agreed it would be a big undertaking.
