TUFF Bags is preparing for their summer meal program which starts in June.

Director Lisa Walker says they served slightly more students during the 2025-2026 school term.

“We served six school districts. We had 33 school sites we delivered to each week, and for the 25-26 school year we provided 81,467 bags of food.”

Thanks to community support, the organization will offer summer meal bag pickup options. She encourages family to get registered.

“The summer program is available to any school aged child living in Tuscarawas County. So even if your child does not get TUFF Bags during the school year, they can get it during the summer.”

She notes they will have dates and times at different locations Monday – Friday.

“We try to make it as easy as possible and remove as many barriers as we can. We know families are busy, there’s a lot of transportation issues and scheduling issues, so the child does not need to be present to pick up the bag. We do ask for the child’s information. We have a roster that we keep a running track of.”

Walker asks for enrollment to be completed by June 2nd so the non-profit can get a baseline for how many bags to pack. Questions can be directed to TUFF Bags by calling 330-401-3283.
