The Tuscarawas County Emergency Management Agency is encouraging winter preparedness.

November 17th – 23rd is Winter Safety Awareness Week to remind everyone to prepare for winter impacts from snow and blizzard like conditions to freezing rain and flooding.

Tusc EMA Director Jennifer James recommends planning a home kit incase the power goes out.

“You should have a gallon of water per person for three days, make sure you have plenty of blankets, food that can be heated up at the home without the use of power, something that’s non-perishable so that you’re not opening and closing the fridge as well.”

An emergency kit for the vehicle can also be prepared.

“Blankets, couple of bottle of water, possibly a flare just in case you were to need it if you were to have issues on the side of the road.”
