Mary Alice Reporting –

Fairs across Ohio are getting a helping hand thanks to a grant established to support upgrades and overall improvements.

All 94 county and independent fairs applied and receive equal funding of $106,831.54. The total amount was $10 million.

Tuscarawas County Agricultural Society Board President Reb Billman says their portion will be used for a new roof.

“On the Commercial building. Hopefully we can have it done before winter. Now that we know that we have that money we will get some bids. Current bids. Everything we have is from last fall.”

Billman notes the granted amount will not cover the entire project due to ever increasing material and labor costs.

The local fair, held in Dover, will be the week of September 16th and the event schedule, outside of the 4-H projects, includes a rodeo, band-o-rama, motocross, and the truck and tractor pull.
