Gwen Rummell Reporting – With back-to-school time nearing, the United Way of Tuscarawas County is partnering with HARCATUS Head Start to hold the 6th annual “Stuff the Bus.”
Volunteers will be at the New Philadelphia Walmart, during Ohio Tax Free weekend, on August 4th and 5th. They will be stationed at both doors, from 10am to 6pm, with a list of needed items and canisters for cash collections.
Donated items will be inventoried and later distributed to Head Start classes throughout Tuscarawas County.
Susan Reidenbach, Community Resources Coordinator for United Way of Tuscarawas County, says “Stuff the Bus” garners great support every year and this year, they have gained support several weeks before the event is set to happen.
“Over the past five years, we have collected over $60,000 worth of items. We’ve actually received over $5,000 of cash donations already from area businesses.”
For those unable to participate August 4th or 5th, collection boxes will be located at Parkway Auto Group dealerships, The Barnett Realtors and McInturf Realty, as well as local Unified Banks. Andreas Furniture, City of New Philadelphia, Kraton, and Novogradac will be holding employee collections.
A full list of needed items can be found at www.tuscunitedway.org/events. Cash donations will also be accepted with checks payable to United Way of Tuscarawas County.
