Gwen Rummell Reporting –

Tuscarawas County residents will once again have the opportunity to dispose of old and unwanted medications during National Drug Take Back Day.

Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital will be participating in the event on Saturday, October 28th from 10 am to 2 pm. Medications can be brought to the drop-off location at the South Entrance of the hospital.

Director of Community Relations Darrin Lautenschleger says getting rid of old medications in this manner is a safe solution.

“This is really important because it keeps them into getting into the wrong hands, somebody opening it and taking it by mistake, [and] children getting to it. Also, it allows for proper disposal so it doesn’t get into the water stream.”

Medication containers should be brought in a transparent plastic bag. Needles, liquids, and peroxide-based medications will not be accepted at this event.

In addition, outdated and unwanted medications can be taken at any time to the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office or area police departments.
