Gwen Rummell Reporting –

The Tuscarawas County Humane Society’s largest fundraiser of the year yielded high support from county residents.

The 16th Annual Cause for Paws Gala, hosted on April 27th, raised $119,515 after expenses. This number slightly exceeded last year’s total.

Shelter Director Haley Predragovich says they had an increase in item donations and sponsors for the event.

“Tuscarawas County is always willing to jump in and help anytime we need and Cause for Paws Gala is a huge representation of that. The funds that are contributed at Cause for Paws, they all stay local, so all of that money from within Tuscarawas County stays in Tuscarawas County.”

The Tuscarawas Humane Society was founded in 1977, and during the first 30 years, only offered assistance to the County Dog Pound and a private cat shelter. The original shelter opened in August of 2009 and a new, more spacious shelter opened at the beginning of February of 2015.

To further support the Humane Society, a list of items needed can be found at www.tuschumanesociety.com/help/wish-list. Supplies can be dropped off at 1432 Tall Timber Rd NE in New Philadelphia during business hours.
