Nick McWilliams reporting – According to the annual water quality report from Tuscarawas County, residents can be confident in what comes out of their taps.

The Tuscarawas County Metropolitan Sewer District issued their 2021 report, which Director and Sanitary Engineer Michael Jones discussed with the county commissioners on Wednesday.

He says that the analysis shows that their water is well within testing limits set for by the Environmental Protection Agency, which Commissioner Chris Abbuhl took as a welcome sign.

“The bottom line is, for those who are not scientists or engineers, we are in compliance with all the water standards, and the drinking water is safe?”

“The drinking water is safe, correct.”

Jones notes that testing is done at the resident’s taps, and tests for levels of lead, copper, iron, and a host of other contaminants.

Additionally, he notes that to the knowledge of the sewer district, they currently have no lead pipes within their distribution system to homes.
