Drought conditions has paused an annual BBQ fundraiser that was going to be held this Sunday.

The Tuscora Park Foundation holds the event to raise money for the New Philadelphia park system, this year the proceeds will benefit park rides.

The cancellation is due to a burn ban currently in place, says Mayor Joel Day.

“The extreme drought has caused the State Fire Marshal to issue a ban on all types of outdoor burning as a result, the Tuscora Park Foundation has had to postpone its annual chick barbeque fundraiser until Saturday, November 2nd and possibly include it as an event in the park’s Fall Trout Derby.”

Those who already purchased tickets are asked to hang on to them and use them on the rescheduled date.

Day urges all to follow the State Fire Marshal’s directive and not have any outdoor cooking or campfires, and to not discard matches or cigarettes.
