Community members have the chance to name the new train at Tuscora Park.

The New Philadelphia Rotary Club is accepting entries for its “Name the Train” contest through Thursday and will announce the winner the following Sunday July 28th. Not only does the winner get to name the new locomotive ride, that person also gets a prize package with gifts, VIP passes, a name plaque and a photo opportunity.

RTY President Greg Rees says the name will change annually.

“The first one will be this summer and we will add that name to the train, probably be a sign, and that person’s name will go on a plaque.”

The new train is bigger with easier access for people in wheelchairs.

“We basically rebuilt everything. The track is all new. We also had help rebuilding the railroad crossings. The train is new, both the passenger cars and the engine. It’s built on a larger scale to make it more comfortable for passengers.”

Adults 18 and older can submit one entry per person. Submission forms are at the Tuscora Park Main Office and online at www.tuscorapark.com.
