TuscParks is showing off a major transformation at its new headquarters outside Dover.
The Brandywine Center, acquired by the county commissioners in 2022, is located along Old Route 39 near the Norma Johnson Center.
Education Manager Marsha Freeland says it now serves as both a public community room and the new home for TuscParks offices, following the department’s move from the county office building.
Freeland says the building dates back to around the turn of the 20th century and previously served as a schoolhouse and a Grange Hall.
Recent renovations were made possible largely through about $400,000 in American Rescue Plan funds.
As part of the upgrades, the community room will feature sound panels displaying the work of local photographer Noah Strickler. The space is designed to host meetings, educational programs, and other public events.
