Mary Alice Reporting – A large crowd gathered at the Knights of Columbus, in Dennison, for the annual Twin City Chamber Awards.

The Thursday evening event allowed the recognition of individuals and businesses for their continued contribution to the City of Uhrichsville and Village of Dennison area.

Six different awards were presented including Business of the Year, which went to Greg Rossi, owner of Smoker’s Paradise.

Kathy Norman presented the Twin City Award to Jerry Cole and the recipient of the Community Contribution.

“This person can be counted on for anything and everything. Having been born in Dennison, she graduated from the last graduating class of Dennison High School. The 2023 Community Contribution Award winner is Helen Borland.”

The Employee of the Year winner was Sally Murray, who was touted for her caring and kindness.

The Educator of the Year honor was presented to Vince Terakedis by Beverly Pearch.

“While this teacher doesn’t have a homeroom, he works with each teacher whose class he works in. When he teaches math, he teaches measuring. When he teachers weather, he teaches wind velocity and the effects on airplanes. Students then utilize the information as they build their own model airplanes and then explain why they fly the distance they fly.”

The final award was the Golden Apple, going to Jeff Wages, who was described as the unseen difference maker for the Indian Valley School District.

The Twin City Chamber of Commerce also presented newly created grants to two businesses, the Pindrop Shop and to Sissy and Company.
