The Twin City Farmers Market is ready for opening day Friday evening.
Board member Shana Angel says the market brings in vendors so community members can purchase food from local farmers, grows, bakers, and makers.
“We are really excited to be kicking off our 4th season. We have some really wonderful things planned for this year and I’m really looking forward to another year of great community and great food.”
Residents are encouraged to come out, see the vendor variety, and make connections.
“You get to build a relationship with the people who are raising and growing your food. You are able to have a conversation on how that food was raised and where, and it helps you stay connected.”
Angel adds that there is a small change in the market token programs this year, specifically for the Produce Perks match.
“This year, unfortunately, due to funding the produce perks will be through the all ready distributed produce perks tokens only. We are able to accept those tokens even tough the program is not continuing.”
Other accepted program includes the WIC Vouchers distributed through the Tuscarawas County health Department, $1 tokens can be purchased with SNAP/EBT cards, and credit or debit cards can be swiped in $5 increments to receive tokens treated like cash.
The Twin City Farmers Market runs every Friday now through August from 5 to 8pm on 4th Street in the Village of Dennison.
