Mary Alice Reporting –

The livestock auction was held Sunday at the 2024 Ohio State Fair and two Tuscarawas County 4-H exhibitors received recognition.

Marshall Miller got the reserve grand champion status for market lamb, which sold for $12,000, and was purchased by Sugardale Foods and Giant Eagle.

Named as grand champion for her market beef was Annistyn Oszust, who had an emotion filled interview with Ohio Ag Net’s Dale Minyo.

“It feels good because we put in so much work him and I’m just really happy that we won it, and sad to see him go.”

While Annistyn presented the steer, her sister Makenna, also a 4-H exhibitor, spoke with Minyo.

“It’s a lot of hard work. Annistyn’s out there every day and sometime they have to wash him twice a day, and Annistyn’s out there walking. It’s quite the process.”

Oszust animal sold for $40,000 and was purchased by Bob Evans Farms, The Kroger Company, Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, and Ohio Harness Horseman’s Association.
