Mary Alice Reporting – Ohio hunters will get another chance to bag a deer during gun season.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources will open another white-tailed deer hunt coming up this weekend, December 17th and 18th.

All deer harvested in Ohio are required to be checked in the Ohio Wildlife Licensing System and this mandatory reporting gives the Division of Wildlife a long-term data set that aids wildlife biologists in monitoring deer health, distribution, and relative abundance.

The traditional week-long season wrapped up in December 4th and statewide, hunters harvest 71,932 deer.

The top five counties include Coshocton, Muskingum, Tuscarawas, Ashtabula, and Knox.
