The district that covers the western portion of Tuscarawas County is on November’s ballot.
Democrat Jerrad Christian is looking to unseat Republican Troy Balderson for the 12th District Congressional position.
Christian grew-up in a small town in Athens County before joining the military. He says he would focus on water infrastructure, make sure the district has resilient farming, veteran services, and jobs.
“I know the future of our nation, the safety and security, is going to depend on our ability to defend our self in cyber space and deal with climate change, and I know that I have a fair amount of experience in both of those things. I’m running because I care. I want to help protect our future”
Incumbent Balderson has been serving the 12th District since 2018 and would like to continue to do so.
“I am fortunate to serve on the Energy and Commerce Committee, not only energy but healthcare is part of that package. We’ve been very engaged in rural health and working with our rural hospitals. Rural transportation is very challenging for folks, telehealth, [and] obviously we want clean water.”
Early voting at the courthouse continues this week from 7:30am to 7:30pm. The deadline for absentee ballot requests is Tuesday.
