A pay increase is approved for the City of Uhrichsville administrative assistant with one council member voting no.
A special meeting was held Thursday with the legislation discussed in executive session before council came back for a vote.
The single negative vote came from Bob Baker.
“I just don’t like the idea that we had to be pushed that quick. I wanted a little more time to think about it.”
Acting Mayor Buck Cottrell says the bump in salary is $18 per hour.
He says current admin Bonnie Coventry was set to leave on July 27th but chose to stay while mayor Jim Zucal recovers from an unspecified medical situation.
“Bonnie’s been here I believe a year and a half. We feel that she deserves it. She does a lot for the city. She did not say she would stay if we did do it but I’m hoping. I’ve got to let her know and then she’ll let me know.”
Meanwhile, Cottrell informed council that Zucal was at home recovering from the medical situation. It’s unknown when Zucal will return to office.
