Nick McWilliams reporting – A committee in Uhrichsville has received its official 501c3 non-profit status, and is setting its sights on beautifying the area.

The group, Twin City Park and Waterways Incorporated, recently received approval as a non-profit entity after being formed in August of 2022, and held a meeting to appoint leadership positions.

Uhrichsville Councilman Matt Fox discussed the committee, noting that their initial goals include clean-up around the Big Stillwater Creek and Little Stillwater Creek, with future recreational development.

“We plan on having two exit ramps somewhere along the creek, and we will have pretty much a kayak or canoe ramp built over on the other side of the Certified gas station at the Panhandle Park.”

Uhrichsville resident Rita McPeek, who was appointed as president of the board, says that the group will also look to help improve the creeks with log-jam cleanup and the Panhandle Passage Park by assisting with cleanup and further completion.

She also submitted to council a rough draft of some of the visions they are aiming for with the park, which is set to be reviewed by new Law Director Doug O’Meara.

As it stands, the non-profit is seeking grant funding from various sources
