At Uhrichsville Council’s first meeting of the year, steps were taken for the Third Street bridge project.
The work was agreed to by the previous administration, but issues arose when the city had to make up a cost shortfall of over $200,000 and it was discovered that property needed to be obtained.
At Thursday’s regular meeting, council passed two resolutions to acquire two different parcels.
Another resolution was also agreed to for an agreement with the Thrasher Group, as was explained by Finance Chair Polly Clark.
“On the Third Street bridge project, the Thrasher Group decided on the phone to agree along with the mayor and service director for the city to pay an initial payment in January 2025 for $110,000 and the remaining $110,000 to be paid in January 2026.”
This contract is in lieu of a bank loan to make up the cost difference.
Meanwhile, Clark also reported on talks of the city’s 2025 budget.
“Appropriations for sidewalks, demolitions, website upgrades, tree city USA, and economic developments.”
Other budgeting items was maintenance and hiring for the water park, AEP bills set to increase, and health insurance for city employees.
