Resealing the swimming pool and finding a storage solution is among the top priorities for the Uhrichsville Water Park.
Following several walkthroughs since the 2024 season ended, Park Committee Chair Matt Fox says, based upon reports from Mayor Jim Zucal, some areas in the pool were done unprofessionally.
“Flex seal is not the way to go about fixing the problems Mayor Zucal stated. This is something that a company, professionals, will have to come in and address. As the group walked through the water park, councilman Fox had pointed out several issues that still hadn’t been dealt with. If the shower heads and faucet fixtures, if they are still in the bathrooms that means water hasn’t been blown out of the lines yet and the pool hasn’t been properly winterized.”
There are several concerns including joint issues where the concrete was put together.
“There were a couple of small cracks near the seams on the one slide that need to be repaired and the filtration system in the maintenance building also needs to be looked at. These are some priorities that the water park should be looking into for next year.”
In addition, Fox has continuously asked for an over winter storage solution.
“Over the years the administration was so in a hurry to put things away and store stuff that stuff was put into the bathrooms and the water was never blown out of the pipes and we’ve had a plumber down there over the last year or two fixing the frozen pipes.”
Mayor Zucal notes that, thanks to a hot and dry summer, the water park did well for 2024.
“We collected $481,264 this year. Last year it was $391,543, so it was a great water park season. The expenditures this year were $311,412. Last year it was $320,264.”
According to Fox, the park received a $25,000 to be used toward fixtures, like the rope and fence around the slide areas.
