Uhrichsville administration is hoping for council approval for a couple of job openings.

These positions are dependent upon review of the finance committee.

Mayor Jim Zucal says following the departure of Terry McFerren as Code Enforcement Officer, they need someone in that position but would like to slightly bump the pay.

“I have interviewed a person that’s very capable. That person needs $20 an hour and health insurance.”

The position is currently set at $15 per hour.

Over in the Street Department, they currently have three employees, and the hope is to add one more.

“It’d be nice to have two, two-man crews. In sharing with finance, what I’d like to do is the mechanism for funding is to pull some water park funds and alleviate all the mowing that we contract out, all the landscaping we contract out, and funnel that money toward an employee in the street department.”

Department Supervisor Steve Patterson agrees with the additional hire, saying benefits include adequate numbers if someone is off and it could reduce overtime hours, especially in the winter months.
