It’s back to the drawing board for the City of Uhrichsville as they try to sell the downtown service garage.
Bidding has opened up three other times on the property listed at $279,000.
Mayor Jim Zucal says the latest round of bids saw one at price and another being above.
“I think it was done correctly. We had a bid of $281,000. We didn’t have to take anything else and that met the minimum, which was $279,000, so I felt it was met and it’s just games being played again.”
The third bid was at $156,000.
At their latest meeting, council did not accept any of the offers following an executive session and then a motion was made by councilwoman Barbara Colvin.
“Have to start all over with the bidding, with everything. Keep the wording the same and start all over.”
Council also said all bids will now go through the law director with Jeff Mathias staying on to market the property, which has been listed on Howard Hanna for 98 days.
Zucal says council’s decision was not in the best interest and it’s not allowing the city to move forward.
“This is a stale mate, this is a slowdown, this is intentional. If they want to slow down the process they’re going to pay the price for that. We have a city garage downtown that has fuel, salt, chemicals, paint, and for any city stewards, the council people, not to look at selling that building and creating good jobs and complete makeover of that building is a big mistake.”
The over 12,000 square foot commercial site is on the corner of N. Main Street and E. 2nd Street.
