Mayor is looking at moving the city’s service garage amid talks of possibly creating an industrial corridor.
Uhrichsville’s service garage could end up moving elsewhere. Nothing is decided at this point, but Mayor Jim Zucal thinks the current building at 126 North Main Street would be better suited for a business.
“We’re looking for jobs in our community, business in our community, and that’s a beautiful building. It has two levels. You don’t see many city garages right in your downtown area and it’s one of our nicest buildings. So, we’d like to find something on the outskirt of town that can house the trucks and snowplows, and equipment.”
He also highlighted an economic development opportunity on the west side that would allow the city to tap into state funding for job retention.
“We’re getting some engineering people involved. We’ve been offered some potential funding for engineering, so I think I’ll be coming back to [council] shortly with an agreement.”
That project involves connecting Third Street, Wardell, Newport Road, and Trenton Avenue to create an industrial corridor.
