A request for proposals (RFP) is available through the City of Uhrichsville as they look to sell their existing service garage at 305 E. Second Street.
During Thursday’s meeting, council approved an ordinance to authorize the advertisement of the sale.
Mayor Jim Zucal presented the RFP to solicit competitive responses.
“We worked with the Tuscarawas County Economic Development team. The prepared the request for proposal. Paid for it themselves. Ran it through their attorneys and I want to thank them for that. They’re excited about the city and the potential for new jobs.”
According to the Tuscarawas County Auditor’s website, the building at the corner of N. Main Street and E. 2nd was purchased in August 2006 for $295,000. A recent appraisal, effective April 11, 2025, showed a market value of $299,000.
Zucal said the building could once again be a business bringing in tax dollars.
“You don’t see many city garages right in your downtown area and it’s one of our nicest buildings downtown, so we’d like to find something on the outskirts of town that can house the trucks, snowplows, salt spreaders, and equipment. We’re looking for jobs in our community. Business in our community, and that’s a beautiful building. It was once a car dealership. Has two levels, have big bay area, [and] ingress and egress off of two different streets. All the groups I’ve talked to regarding this for economic development think it’s a win and I agree. We’ve had a few interests, a few phone calls about it.”
Zucal has mentioned building a new city garage on the west side, but no further talks have been publicly discussed. The city owns 4.70 acres at 499 W. 5th Street, which is between railroad tracks and Stillwater Creek, according to the auditor’s website.
RFP responses are due August 15th by 4pm to the city offices. Zucal anticipates an award date by late September.
“And we’ll close it out sometime in late December. I’ll let you know the date and we’ll have a formal opening, and I hope you’re all excited about the future of that building and the growth of the community.”
RFP details can be found on the city’s website, cityofuhrichsville.org.
