Sue and Mike Winkler receive a proclamation from Uhrichsville Mayor Jim Zucal.
A donut shop in the city of Uhrichsville is recognized for 50 years of being open.
Rods Donuts and Diner sits at the corner of E. 2nd and N. Main Street serving donuts, cookies, other treats, and a full menu featuring breakfast and lunch.
At the latest council meeting, Uhrichsville Mayor Jim Zucal read a proclamation to recognize the anniversary.
“Rods Donuts and Diner has proudly served the residents of Uhrichsville and surrounding communities for 50 years. Whereas, through dedication, hard work, and commitment to quality food and friendly service, Rods Donuts and Diner has earned the respect and loyalty of countless customers”
Zucal commended owners Sue and Mike Winkler, and employees, for continuing the bakery’s long-lasting impact.
“It’s a staple here. Everybody knows about Rods. What a legacy.”
The Winkler’s purchased the business after Rod Smith, the original owner, passed away at age 69 in 2023. Smith opened the bakery in 1976.
On Saturday, Rods Donuts and Diner is hosting an anniversary event and invites the community to enjoy face painting, free cookies and donuts, and more.
