Gwen Rummell Reporting –

The City of Uhrichsville held a special meeting Thursday to discuss the waterpark and Twin City Baseball.

The meeting began with Twin City Baseball Program Director, Dave Mello, asking for financial support with multiple on-going problems and mentioning the need for more volunteers.

Lights around the field and concession stand is a main issue, says Mello, with half not in working order. Mayor Jim Zucal assured this problem would be worked on.

“I’ve been working with Chase Hostetler with American Electric Power. He was just in this week. We’re looking at flood lights for that whole area. So to kind of circumvent and speed this up a little bit, I’ll be glad to work with him and we’ll go down and look at the whole situation.”

Mello adds the air conditioning unit in the concession stand and water pipes have been inconsistent. The water has been turned off since the end of last season, which needs fixed before the health department visits. Zucal said the water issue in the area should have been addressed, but he will reach out to the water department.

Councilman Matt Fox then brought up issues with the waterpark, but added they could wait until next year when more funds are available.

“Some of the issues are water heaters. The water heaters are original for the showers and the bathrooms. I think we can get away with the lawn chairs this year just because we have so many of them.”

Other topics discussed were the hiring of a superintendent for the cemetery and the results of city committee meetings.
