Mary Alice Reporting –
Two individuals, the incumbent and a former councilman, are hoping to win votes for the Ward 1 council seat in the City of Uhrichsville.
Election Day is November 7th and voters in the city will see multiple council seats up as the current members seeks re-election and a challenger hope for voter support.
Bob Baker was on Uhrichsville council for eight years and is looking to return and says that experience can help serve the city and its residents since he has legislative and administrative knowledge.
“When I was on the ordnance committee, we were working on updating them because some of the ordinances are 30 to 40 years old and I was trying to clean them up. I would like to continue on that and as always watching the finances.”
Matt Fox is the current seat holder and is looking to return to the position for another term to continue with priorities like street paving, improving sidewalk ramps, and taking care of the community.
“I just feel that I can make some changes in the community and that’s what the community needs. The city of Uhrichsville has been struggling with things and I’d like to retain my seat and feel that I try to do a good job down there. Try to do a lot of things for the community and better the community.”
Early in-person voting is available until Sunday at the Tuscarawas County Courthouse and on Tuesday, polling locations open at 6:30am.
