Mary Alice Reporting –

Opening Day is approaching for the Uhrichsville Waterpark, with the health department providing an inspection and a hiring partnership announced.

The first inspection from the Tuscarawas County Health Department occurred Thursday and everything went well, according to Service Director Cade Watkins and Code Enforcement Officer Amy Myers.

Myers notes that they will also partner with Opportunity for Ohioans with Disabilities.

“And we are going to have workers at the waterpark, with disabilities, with a coach and they’re going to be working, and we’ve never done anything like this before. I’m so excited.”

The city will not be responsible for paying them and these workers will be limited to four hours per day. Opening day is Saturday, Memorial weekend. The city also indicated positive event books at the attraction.

Additionally, the waterpark’s bond has been approved and once the next payment is made, the remaining balance the city owes will be $1.9 million to be paid within eight years.
