The challenger in Ohio’s U.S. senate race made a campaign stop in New Philadelphia Tuesday to share his vision for a better America.

Bernie Moreno spoke about his priorities if elected during an hour-long visit to the Delaware, including lowering costs and restoring energy independence. He also wants to decentralize the federal government and dismantle its education department.

Moreno highlighted his working-class upbringing during the local campaign stop.

“From the age of 12 till now, I’ve always had a job, always worked. My opponent, he grew up very differently. He grew up going to country clubs – a wealthy family in Mansfield, Ohio – went to Yale University – full paid tuition – so obviously he could afford that. In fact, his tuition for four years at Yale University was more than my dad made as a surgical assistant.”

Congressman and fellow business owner Michael Rulli has been traveling around the state campaigning with Moreno and gave the introduction.

Moreno is trying to unseat longtime Ohio democratic U.S. senator Sherrod Brown.

The 6th district congressional race is a rematch between Rulli and democrat Michael Kripchak.
