Verma Rose Lorenz, age 95, of New Philadelphia, Ohio went peacefully in her sleep at her home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday morning, February 12, 2024.
She was born September 7, 1928, in New Philadelphia and was the daughter of the late Bud and Callie (Ruble) Craig.
In addition to her parents, Verma was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Eugene on April 6, 2008, a son Ronald Lee Lorenz on March 22, 1990, and four brothers Eldred, Wilson, Thomas, and Robert Craig, and four sisters Helen Lorenzoni, Gloria Millward, Luella Pica, and Lillian Warner.
Verma was an excellent homemaker who loved to cook. She planned and prepared many memorable meals for her family in her home. She attended the Nazarene Church and loved to share the Gospel. For many years, she taught children through the Good News Club at her home. She was also a volunteer at Union Hospital for many years.
Verma is survived by her daughter Mrs. Nancy (Ron) Berry and her four grandchildren John Berry, Ron Lorenz, Bob Lorenz, Abby Lorenz-Yarger and eleven great-grandchildren.
Her grandson John Berry acted as her caregiver, taking care of all of her needs for the last few years.
Out of respect for Verma’s wishes, there will be no services. She will be buried next to her husband Wayne in the Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens. The Baxter-Gardner funeral Home at Sherrodsville has been entrusted with her arrangements. Online condolences may be posted on the funeral home website.
