Roswell is among the Tuscarawas County municipalities seeking additional property tax revenue on the ballot this November.
The village of less than 300 people is seeking renewals and increases for two 5-year levies – one that pays for trash hauling services and one that pays for general operating expenses.
Mayor Terri Tice says it’s likely the levies would have been replacement levies a couple of years ago, but the state no longer allows that.
She says the Roswell Ohio Residents Facebook page has information for residents about what the levy will cost and a link to the county auditor’s website.
The operating levy – Issue 16 – would be an increase of a half a mill, from 5-mill to 5.5 mill. Issue 17 would increase the refuse tax from 5.5 mills to 7.6 mills. However, Tice says residents would pay more than twice as much for trash services without the levy.
Early voting is underway still at the Tuscarawas County Board of Elections Office through Sunday. Tuesday polling locations will open from 6:30am to 7:30pm.
