Virginia C. West, age 91, a lifetime Dellroy area resident, died Tuesday night, September 1, 2026, in the Centerville Village at Carrollton.
She was born May 10, 1935, in Dellroy, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Gail and Olive (Huffman) Hoffee. Her husband, James W. West, whom she married September 4, 1954, passed away on January 29, 2012. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Hoffee.
Virginia was formerly employed by the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District, having worked at their main office and at the former Atwood Lake Lodge and Conference Center where she recorded reservations. She was a former assistant treasurer for the Carrollton Exempted Village School District and was a former librarian for the Kilgore School. After high school, she attended the former Canton Actual Business College. She most recently had attended the Dellroy Church of the Nazarene. She had an enthusiastic interest in local history and genealogy and held a large collection of local memorabilia. Virginia was a visible participant in most local events throughout the years.
She is survived by her son, James M. West of Dellroy.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 8, 2026, in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Rev. Kenneth Ogg officiating. Interment will follow in the Leavittsville Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until time of services at 1:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
