Virginia L. Maze, age 84, of rural Mineral City, Ohio, died Friday evening, March 21, 2025 in her daughter’s New Cumberland area residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 26, 1940 in West Virginia and was the daughter of the late William and Oma (Looman) Mike. Her husband, Robert Darrell Maze, Sr, passed away in February of 1999. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Darrell Maze, Jr., a brother William Mike, and grandson Preston William Maze.
Virginia was primarily a homemaker who concentrated on her family for most of her life. She was a faithful member of the Lake Drive Fellowship Church in New Cumberland. For more than 30 years, she, along with her daughter Dottie, created crafts they offered at their booth at the Atwood Lake Area Fall Festival. She revered life and family, and throughout her life always maintained a sense of humor that she wasn’t shy to share with friends, family, and strangers. Virginia was an exceptionally talented seamstress who could create, repair, or alter virtually anything. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by a daughter and a son, Mrs. Dolores “Dottie” (Perry) Stoneman of New Cumberland, and William “Bill” Maze of Mineral City, her four grandchildren Dakota Maze of Uhrichsville, OH, Brian (Amanda) Stoneman of New Cumberland, Tyler (Sally) Stoneman of Ringgold, GA, and Mrs. Jessica (Dalton) Echols of Gainesville, GA and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at the Lake Drive Fellowship Church with Pastor Larry Stitt officiating. Following cremation, interment of her ashes will follow in the New Cumberland Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home in Sherrodsville.
